My mother never had time for me, so my brothers basically raised me. They were very abusive towards me. When I was eight years old, my mother decided that she did not want me anymore, so she sent me to live with her father. My life only got worse, he was also a drunk and very abusive. He molested me for four years. Then, I finally found the courage to run away. I was caught and my case went to court but he was found not guilty.
I was in and out of foster homes and detention centers until I turned 19. I then got into the wrong crowd and I became an alcoholic. In my early 20’s I was introduced to drugs. That is when my life really fell apart. I couldn’t keep a job or a place of residency which made me co-dependent on others. As a result, I became homeless and lived on and off the streets for many years.
In July of 2019 I was baptized and turned my life over to Jesus. Since then, I have quit drugs, drinking and I follow Jesus. Now, I am where I am supposed to be; here with New Life Evangelistic Center. At New Life Evangelistic Center, I have been given the opportunity to be the person I know I can be and I owe it all to the NLEC donors. Without donations New Life Evangelistic Center couldn’t be here for me and all the other homeless people in need. Because of the NLEC partners, I am no longer on the streets with no shelter, food or even a place where I can take a shower or wash clothes.
At New Life Evangelistic Center, I am also learning new skills that will help me in the future. Jesus is helping me to learn how to reach out and help others that are in the same situation I once was.
I Praise God that I am able to live at one of the NLEC Safe House and use my talents to help others for the glory of God.
