Although I did not go into combat, I am an army veteran. I love helping people. I think this is the calling on my life. I was trying to take care of my mom. She was homeless. She lived in a tent at Tent City here in Springfield. When I came to visit, I was shocked to find her dead in her tent! I was even more stunned as I looked into the eyes of her killer sitting right next to her! It was her husband! Oh my God! My precious Lord! I just lost it! I couldn’t handle my mom’s murder at the hands of her own husband! I became terribly depressed and lived in my dead mom’s tent–thinking this was a way to be closer to her. I finally heard Jesus tell me to stop grieving. It was time for me to heal. I came to the New Life VCHC because I knew they offered services like free computers and phones to help me rebuild my shattered life. That’s what my mom would have wanted me to do. Also, my faith in Jesus carry’s me thru each day. Tonight, thanks to the New Life VCHC, I will have a warm and safe place to sleep. Where would I be without Jesus and the VCHC?!
