NLEC First Responders

PPE's are needed for the NLEC First Responders to disbribute much needed hygiene supplies to the homeless.

PPE’s (Personal Protective Equipment) are needed for the NLEC First Responders to disbribute much needed hygiene supplies to the homeless.

Items that are needed are: masks, thermometers, gloves, and hand sanitizer.

If you can’t find face masks, the CDC says that it is perfectly acceptable to make them for use during the Covid-19 pandemic. There are many tutorials on YouTube that will show you how. Most are made by caring, well-meaning people. However, to make a successful, safe mask, please do your research to locate tutorials by people who are in the medical industry or who have the support of the medical industry. Here is a great video by a doctor and his wife.

Martha Rice, Chris Rice’s wife, describes how to make face masks for the homeless in the video below.

WAIT!!! CAUTION!!!!! ATTENTION!!!!

Before you make masks in your home or place of business, please use the following guidelines:

  • Ensure no one in your home or business has or has been exposed to COVID-19.
  • It is also a generally good idea to not make these if you are sick at all, even with a cold
  • Wash your work area, scissors and other equipment with soap and water or a disinfectant cleaner.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water (at least 20 seconds)
  • Use the first mask you make as both a test of quality and to ensure that you do not breath on any of the other masks that you produce
  • transport all masks in a contained and sanitary manner (ziplock bag)

Bring the items to the following locations.

2428 Woodson Rd., Overland, MO (314) 421-3020

806 N. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO (417) 866-3363

Please DO NOT make masks with used clothing or other used fabric, pads or diapers. Successful face masks will have a filter, nose guard and elastic or adjustable straps.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!
